If someone says KoRn with Ray is better than KoRn with David then they probably have never went to an early KoRn show when you could feel the energy, hear the groove, and you knew that the chemistry in the band was tight, don't get it wrong, Ray plays the say rudeaments as David but he lacks the chemistry you use to feel, like a certain electricity that you would feel in the old days.

Fuck I started listening to KoRn when I was 9 in 1995 or 1996
I saw my first show in Houston when I was like 12 in 1998
it blew my mind and there was just a awesome electricity to it
    the band vibe was awesome

I may not have seen them for the first two albums, but I owned them, and I still consider myself a true old school kornkid

I have been to a show with ray and it isn't the same, and I think it is for two reasons, no head or david

Questionable Choices is taking all of the words out of my mouth.

    -----

I dislike most people's reason for wanting to keep Ray. Most people say "He's a better drummer," or "David is an asshole."

    ...Seriously?

There are definitely good reasons for wanting to keep Ray. Because he's a really great, sincere guy. Because he's a great drummer. But I barely ever hear those reasons. I usually just hear people bashing David as the reason for them wanting Ray to stay.

Grow up. This isn't about some battle of comparison, seriously. They both have things they have going for them, and things they don't. There are valid reasons for wanting David back, and there are valid reasons for wanting Ray to stay in the band.

The only acceptable reasons for wanting Ray to stay in Korn:
    "Because I like his drumming."
"Because he's really nice, which makes band chemistry easier."

And those are great reasons. "Because David is an asshole" is not a good reason. Grow up.

For most oldschool kornfans we probably prefer the idea of David over Ray for the nostalgic reasons of allowing us to relive those childhood moments we fondly cherish of the how we felt being at a KoRn show way back in the day when the OG5 were rocking out heavier than anything else out there!!!

If you think the epitome of KoRn is its music, then you opine erroneously, because as Jonathan would say, it's all about family! Which indeed they are. Ray may bring a new dynamic into the band's sound, but it's undeniable that he has contributed to the maturity, calmness and affability between the members that David had retrograded and invariably worsened. Ray has been an integral part of the unification and rectification of the KoRn family and they are not going to ask him to leave because Ray isn't merely a great musician, he's also a wonderful personality and a great friend.

To each his own, I respect your opinion, mine is different.

I have said it before if KoRn is truly about family then bringing David back is a no brainer (plus no one is saying it has to be permanent, fuck when Black Sabbath does a reunion tour they do it for a summer, then ozzy does his solo stuff and the rest of the guys use to do heaven and hell before dio died.), and if Ray is part of that family he should understand and have no problem letting David take the drums for a spin even if it is just for a little bit.

Mature people tend to forgive and not hold grudges

They would be able to bring back Family Values with OG5 make a FUCK TON OF MONEY and all those old kornkids who use to idolize KoRn way back when, will be there, and now we have jobs, and will pay top dollar to see the reunion tour. I mean it is a pretty simple formula that Black Sabbath already uses and succesfully makes money on reunion tours with. KoRn is at the point in their carer where they are almost at 20 years. TWENTY years, now think about this (though this is pure speculation on my part, I obsess about this shit too much) their managers could spend a good amount of money on marketing that would bring the fans back in droves for a OG5 reunion tour that what do you know, just so happens to fall on their 20th reunion. This would make them relevant on the mtvs again, maybe even get this generation of kids into their music. Maybe they want to play out the Head reunion first and see how the fans react, to see how much of a money maker the reunion can be, so as far as I see it, if the guys make a good amount of money (because we all know in the end everything comes down to money) then they are smart enough to realize the final piece (David) will make them more money. I honestly feel that sometimes the drama is there on purpose to make us (the fans) get more emotionally invested into the stake of the band, though I could be wrong.

I am just some stupid fan from San Antonio who has loved this band since 1996.

Ray is Here to Stay!! Don't even worry it. I'm glad after years of being under the radar, David has popped his big head out - remember: he was M.I.A. for years post-Korn! Now he gets to watch what musicianship is all about! In his former band. That's got to sting.

I would also like to see the original 5 honestly, I don't see that happening. David needs to get his act together because he's been talking trash about the band and he also need to realize that Ray is the official drummer for Korn. i love and respect David but, he's acting crazy, trying to get fans to harass the band etc. what's with all the ruckus? Bashing the band in public personally?? C'mon Now!! Where's the love???

Been a KoRn kid since '98

I don't feel like I am bashing anyone when I express my loyalty to the band, even if it is to how I remember the band with the OG5

I don't agree with you @kornhivgirl I remember when Head left they got background vocals a keyboardist and it was almost like another band was on stage with KoRn

I am just saying if they had Head would they have needed background vocalists and a keyboardist?

I may be wrong but meh,

I live in my dillusional world and would spend a fuck ton of money on a ticket to go see OG5 even if it were just one show. (I am sure there are more out there who would do that same too)

You sound like you been fighting with David personally lol, wow. Step back and read what you wrote...

    Really?

Once again, this isn't about which drummer is nicer to you on social networking sites, and which drummer retweets you... it's about KoRn. You guys don't get it man.

I have been following this story since David first appeared on Kornspace back in February of last year.

What David initially said is that Jonathan was manipulative and an egomaniac. He then went on to say that he wanted to punch Fieldy in the face and that he had slept with Jons wife “everyone had.”

As Korn were going through a hard time with fan loyalty due to the poor reception "The Path of Totality" received from Korns prehistoric legion of metal head fans, a lot of fans immediately turned against Korn and went on a bit of a 'we love David' campaign. To tell you the truth this entire story appears to have turned Kornspaces moderators to the dark side and resulted in the closure of kornspace.com.

My own personal opinion on how things were going on behind the scenes is that David had become resentful of Korn turning up their nose to any plans for a reunion with him. They never replaced Head, but Ray came into the picture pretty quickly after David’s absence and the two members who David seemed to hate most were constantly saying how Ray was a great drummer and the best they had ever worked with.

On to David’s band Infinika. Let’s face it, the fans didn’t like them and things seemed to go from bad to worse for this band before they even got started, with the guitarist and bassist leaving before the band had even started recording an album.

Things fell silent for a while with David continuously adding to his legion of supporters in the background via Facebook. People who were sceptical of David’s intentions remember his hate filled status updates towards politicians and other national figure heads and old fans including myself were shocked that the once quiet David had become an outspoken egomaniac with a lot of anger issues and a new found DUI to back up his deteriorating public image.

Come 2013 head was set to re-join Korn on the road and David’s new band seemed to be doing very little bar posting pictures of David’s new drum kit which he continuously told us was birch and sent to him by Tama. The addition of an extra bass drum hinted at a war with Ray Luzier (my drum kit is bigger than yours) but underneath all the hype drum enthusiasts noticed that his birch drum kit was nothing other than a cheap mid-range Tama he had obviously picked up in a local music store and teamed with an odd bass drum and old gong he had lying around the house. This was in turn proof that David had severed his ties with the music industry and was in no way set for a worldwide launch of his new band that were little more than a bunch of failed musicians from LA clinching onto the last straws of stardom.

By February David was on an "I want back in" campaign and began dictating to fans to swarm Korns boards and twitter with pleas for his return. This tactic fell short when Head commented in an interview that the band didn’t want him back, so on went his plan to attack at the source and began constructing manipulative comments to turn fans against Ray saying that there was proof the fans wanted him back even though the Korn boards suggested otherwise.

What is the future for David, no-body knows but for now I think we would all like to stick with Ray thank you very much.

I don't know what you guys consider replacing, but when one member leaves (Head) and then all of a sudden the next tour there is an entire masked band beind them, that seems to me like they were trying to replace someone. Even if they never officially said they were, it is still replacing. They had background vocalists, a guitar player and a keyboardists. Head use to do backgrounds and play guitar, so when he leaves and then you see people who are not in KoRn doing his parts, well to me that seems like he was being replaced, even if it was just because he wasn't there.
But what the fuck do I know?
