Need some music help

So I've got an Ibanez K7. Thaaaaat's right... the very same model Korn played for years. It's awesome, and the best luxury purchase I've ever made.

So, naturally, when you have a Korn guitar, you want to play it, and write songs with it.

Well, I'm more of a harsh vocalist type... sample >>

I'm not really a guitarist, and everything I know is self-taught.

So, after writing a riff I really liked that was very Korn-sounding, I recorded it, then put it through a preamp software called guitar rig. I definitely have the right guitar SOUND here, but what I don't have right are the levels.

Obviously the song needs to be cleaned up, and I need an engineer... and a drummer... and a bass player ._.

But still, I kinda like the way it turned out. Can anyone guide me on what the hell I'm trying to do here? I'm totally lost. I got the riff, I got the metronome (because I don't know the first thing about drums nor drum tracks) and I got something to make the guitar awesome-sounding...

It's just not very clean. Any ideas? Advice? Constructive criticism?

Here's the track I wrote >>

haha thanks jayjay. If I learn more about this whole process, I'll share with you my findings.

So far, all I've learned so far is to use this to plug your guitar into your pc >>

plug one end to your guitar, the other is usb to pc. you also plug another cable from the end near the guitar to the amplifier so you can hear what you're recording on the amp.

set your mic to the input from the usb device.

record away... you can use audacity.

once recorded, the guitar will sound like a bass guitar, so you need to put it through a preamp software. I use Guitar Rig 5. If you get that program, I can send you my setup for Korn sound.

in this software, there are 2 tape decks... one before the effects, and one after. use the one before the effects to open your recorded file. click the sync decks button on the tape deck that's after the effects. then simply press the play button on the first tape deck so that it'll play what you wrote, and the second tape deck will record it.

when done, simply save what the second tape deck recorded as a wav file. add drum beats for better effects.

I've used 2 drum softwares, and I think I'm more pleased with hydrogen >>

Haha, yeah, I wanted to play a 7-string for a while. It's not too much different physically, except the neck is fatter, which takes some getting used to.

Honestly, I'd like an 8-string with the last 4 higher strings moved to a different guitar. If I were to play those strings, it would be on a separate channel anyway... I like that deep low buzz more than anything :)

I saw that blind lesson actually. It was pretty informative, but I don't tune my guitar like Korn does. I drop tune it because I don't have the flexibility to be a REAL guitar player haha. just hold the first 3 strings with one finger and move around on frets. lazy? talentless? sure, but who's gonna come over my house and play the guitar the right way for me? lol. like i said, I more enjoy vocal duty, specifically harsh vocals. I don't sing very well... I much more enjoy screaming my head off XD
