Music from the North.
I love metal music from Sweden and Norway, Sweden have some of the greatest death metal bands and Norway have some of the greatest black metal bands. I therefore decided to make a list of the best songs from here and from Norway. At least the ones that I am aware of and the ones that I listen to and can come up with now. I suggest you grow long fucking hair, buy some Elkbrew Swedish beer (it MUST be swedish), buy the largest fucking speakers on the market, prepare some raw flesh to eat bofore even thinking of using this list.
If your ears aren't bleeding, you aren't puking blood and your neck isn't broke after you have listened to all these songs, you weren't listening.
Sweden:
Arch Enemy. Arch fucking enemy. Archer fucking enemy archer.
Arch Enemy - We Will Rise
In Flames, melodic death metal from the second biggest city in sweden, Göteborg (gothenburg). For a couple of years ago they were more of a folk-music metal band.
In Flames - Insipid 2000
Amon Amarth, I don't like them that much but they are good musicians and should not be left out when making a list like this.
Amon Amarth - Asator
At The Gates, also a great band.
At The Gates - Slaughter of The soul
BATHORY! Fucking brutal. 'nuff said.
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Can't come up with more at the moment so here's Norway.
Norway:
ENSLAVED! the most brutal fucking band ever made by mankind. Black metal from the top of the mountains in Norway. They deserve three songs in my list.
Enslaved - Sigmundskvadet
The three swords in the video are called Sverd i fjell and are monuments in Norway to
honor our brothers who fell in battle there for a thousand years ago.
Enslaved - Havenless
If someone want me to translate the thing they sing in the beginning, text me.
Enslaved - RUUN
Burzum. The most brutal viking of all time. Two songs for him. He is also known as Varg Vikernes (varg means wolf), an old member of mayhem. I will not link mayhem here because I do not like them.
Burzum - Jeg faller
Jeg faller = I'm falling. As in the lyrics, jeg faller is followed by "helt ned". Which would make the sentence in english: "I'm falling, straight down/all down"
Burzum - Die Liebe Nerpus
Dimmu Borgir. I personaly do not like them that much but my father does.
Dimmu Borgir - Progenies of The Great Apocalypse
Gorgoroth.
Gorgoroth - Incipit Satan

No Tarja = No Nightwish
Ensiferum - how did I fail to mention them...
Also to add to the Finnish list: WINTERSUN
Bodom, are not my cup of tea
Lordi - I take your point, the monstermen are more visual than musical.
Turisas are the best thing out of Finland, ever.
The first time I saw Arch Enemy, they were opening for Megadeth and I remember thinking, why is there a woman on stage with no instrument? Took me a while to realise the vocals I was hearing, were from her!!

Everything you said but lordi is good. I love Nightwish (when Tarja was the singer), Children of Bodom, HIM (quite okay), Stratovarius, Ensiferum, Amorphis (as you said). Though, Nightwish is the only band from Finland I listen to often=)
Arch enemy are great! I've seen them twice actually, and they are great live too=)
